Gun Handling

This safe, 4 Step-method draw will keep your body parts out of the way of your pistol muzzle while drawing (or 'presenting') the weapon. This can be practiced at home but, please MAKE SURE your pistol is unloaded first (point in a safe direction as an extra precaution). Keep live ammo out of reach while practicing.

Step # 1: Your 'Support hand' (weak-side  hand) goes flat to your chest or midsection. 'Firing Hand' (strong-side hand) obtains a 'firing grip' on the pistol, trigger finger extended. NOTE: With Concealment garment, your Firing Hand flicks the garment out of the way before it goes to the grip of your handgun. Some shooters put some sort of small weight in the garment pockets (especially on the gun side) to help keep the garment out of the way during the draw process.

Step #2: Gun hand brings gun out of holster, just enough that the muzzle clears the holster. Support hand stays where it is. Then, Muzzle swivels muzzle up and forward and holds gun against body just under the armpit. Support hand stays where it is.

Step #3: Support hand slides across front of chest and wraps around gun hand; gun stays where it is or may move forward slightly. Notice that a target can be engaged from this position and the gun won't be as easily grabbed by the bad guy who is at close quarters. (If your handgun has a safety, the safety comes off at this point)

Step #4: Gun hand, with support hand wrapped around it, thrusts gun forward and up in line with target, and finger goes to trigger as target is acquired in sights.

NOTE: Details  on returning the handgun to it's holster, resetting the trigger, clearing jams and how to do a tactical reload with retention coming soon - with PICS too!
